Step 3: Many homeowners ask us to install tongue and groove aspen or pine for their ceilings. We install it directly to the roof timbers and place the panels over that.
If a drywall ceiling is called for, we glue and screw drywall directly to the underside of the roof panels prior to flying them in. Once again, this provides the cleanest possible look for the same reasons mentioned with the walls. It is important to note that most of our roof-systems are designed with purlins or minor rafters placed on 4-foot centers, which means that the vast majority of the drywall seams in the ceiling will be hidden behind the timbers.
