Timber Frame Homes, 2004 Buyers Guide
The frame raising was the most memorable part of the building process, according to Paul . . . "Seeing it go up was the neatest thing. . . The frame is what the house is all about. Watching the crew piece it together -- working with the mortise and tenon joinery and hammering wood pegs to hold it together -- it was amazing."
The entire home is a work of art, but the most impressive room is the 20-by-25-square-foot great room. The frame's hammerbeam trusses create a vaulted area with a soaring 28-foot ceiling. "We love the openness in this room," Paul says. "When visitors come in here, there's a bit of a 'wow' factor. The room seems almost cathedral-like." |
